ADOLF DASSLER  








Adolf Dassler was born in 1900 in Germany.Adolf was inspired  by the single idea when he made his first shoes in 1920.He made his first shoes at the age of 20.His main aim was to provide every athlete with best footwear for the respective disciplines.

Adolf made his first shoes from the few materials that were available during war period i,e the only material available was canvas.He himself was very passionate about the athlete and was in close contact  with the sports athletes.He made a point to be present at all the sports events that was his passion towards sports.Adolf focused mainly on the classic disciples of field and track.

Athletes wore a special shoes from his workshop for the first time at 1928 Olympics game  in Amsterdam.In 1920,Adolf started experimenting with spikes.

In  mid 1930's Adolf started making 30 different shoes for eleven sports with 100 employers working on it.In two decades Adidas became a world's leading manufacturer of sport's shoe.

After the second world war in 1947,he began with 42 employers implimenting the pre-war knowlegde gained along with new ideas.He made first post-war shoes using canvas and rubber from American fuel tanks.

In 1948 he introduced ''ADIDAS'' as a company name.

A tremendous Breakthrough came when Germany team won soccer world cup in 1954 against Hungary as German team had worn boots with screws and studs that was manufactured by Adidas.

Adolf became the first entrepreneur to promote sports to make the public aware of his innovation.He started using well known athletes for sports advertisements.Jesse Qwens,Muhammed Ali etc...were family friends of Adolf.

Adolf along with his son Horst Adi created an international company that is still present in all the World's sporting events.

In mid 1960's he started manufacturing of sports apparel for competitions.
In 1963 started with the manufacturing of ball and ever since 1970 , offical match ball at all major soccer events.

Adolf died in 1978,at the age of 78.Following his death his wife Kathe and son Horst took over the charge of running the company.Horst is also responsible for establishing the brand in France.
Horst died unexpectedly in 1987 at the age of 51.

In 1989,the Adidas was transformed into a corporation.
At the beginning of 1990, after difficult transition period Adidas returned to its roots.

In 1991,Adidas launched Adidas equipment and a line of performance oriented functional footwear and apparel.
In 1993, Robert Louis Dryfus took over the management of the company.
In 1997,Adidas AG and Salomon group combined to form Adidas Salomon AG.

On January 31,2006 Reebok international Ltd.was acquired providing new Adidas group with a footprint around 9.5 billion in global athletic apparel and hardware markets.
